Participants should treat all EQA samples in an identical manner to those from patients, as far as possible.  We need to assess quality in the provisions of tests for patients. 

The materials distributed are provided for sole use for external assessment at participating laboratories.  Most materials are serum based and are from single donors.

Sample acquisition is an increasing problem for EQA providers.  If participating laboratories have any surplus materials, then contact us to arrange collection, we will provide a patient information pack, including a patient consent form. 

It is ethically acceptable to utilise surplus patient material for EQA purposes and in accordance with UK legislation and guidance.
