Allergy & Immunodeficiency EQA Programmes
Our Allergy & Immunodeficiency EQA programmes support laboratories in assessing, comparing, and improving performance across allergy testing, hypersensitivity diagnostics, and the investigation of immunodeficiency disorders.
These schemes help strengthen UK quality assurance in allergy and immunodeficiency testing, supporting accurate patient diagnosis, consistent reporting, and accreditation requirements.
Alongside our EQA services, UK NEQAS IIA provides additional learning opportunities through the Digital Academy, offering commentaries, webinars, and presentations to support continuing professional development in laboratory medicine.
All programmes below are administered by UK NEQAS for Immunology, Immunochemistry & Allergy (UK NEQAS IIA) and are open to both national and international participants.
Programmes in this category
- Allergen Component Testing (SER/051)
Evaluation of recombinant allergen and ISAC component IgE testing, covering key allergen groups such as venom, egg, nuts, milk, latex and birch components. - Allergen Specific IgE (SER/032)
Comprehensive EQA for common inhalant, food, venom, and mould allergens used in the diagnosis and monitoring of allergic disease. - Fungal & Related Antigens (SER/016 & SER/017)
Assessment of antibodies associated with hypersensitivity pneumonitis and related conditions, including Aspergillus, Candida, and avian antigens. - IgG Subclasses (SER/018)
Quality assurance for the measurement of total IgG and subclasses IgG1–IgG4, supporting investigation of antibody deficiency and IgG4-related conditions. - Specific Microbial Antibodies (SER/043, SER/044 & SER/045)
Assessment of antibody responses to tetanus, Haemophilus influenzae type B, and pneumococcal serotypes, supporting immunodeficiency diagnostics. - Total Serum IgE (SER/031)
EQA for total IgE measurement, supporting diagnosis and management of allergic disease. - Tryptase (SER/040)
Assessment of tryptase measurement used in the investigation of suspected mast cell activation and acute allergic reactions.
How participation supports quality
Participation in these programmes enables laboratories to:
- Demonstrate strong performance in allergy quality testing and immunodeficiency investigations.
- Benchmark results against UK and international peer laboratories.
- Support accreditation and compliance activities through objective assessment.
- Access educational materials that promote continuous improvement.
