Digital EQA Programmes
Our digital EQA programmes support laboratories in assessing interpretative skills, pattern recognition, and clinical reasoning through digitally delivered external quality assessment.
Unlike traditional EQA that focus on analytical measurement, these schemes use image based EQA programmes, virtual workflows, and virtual sample EQA approaches to evaluate how laboratory professionals interpret results, recognise diagnostic patterns, and apply decision-making in line with standard practice.
These programmes support quality assurance in areas where interpretation and workflow are critical, helping laboratories maintain consistency, meet accreditation standards, and demonstrate competence in qualitative assessment across digitally delivered EQA formats.
Alongside our EQA services, UK NEQAS IIA provides additional educational resources through the Digital Academy, including webinars, commentaries, and technical presentations that reinforce continued professional development in digital pathology EQA programmes.
All schemes are administered by UK NEQAS for Immunology, Immunochemistry & Allergy (UK NEQAS IIA) and are open to national and international participants.

- Digital ANA (DA/601)
An image based EQA programme focused on the recognition and interpretation of HEp-2 cell staining patterns in autoimmune disease, in accordance with the International Consensus on Antinuclear Antibody Patterns (ICAP). It supports consistent pattern recognition and harmonisation of ANA interpretation across laboratories and aligns with emerging digital pathology EQA approaches. - Digital Cryoprotein (SER/052)
A digital case study EQA programme designed to assess clinical reasoning and diagnostic workflow in the investigation of cryoglobulinaemia. Participants review digital images, laboratory results, clinical scenarios, and testing protocols, selecting investigative pathways in line with their laboratory practice.
